Laboratory of Gene Expression

High-throughput gene expression profiling and single-cell analysis using qPCR and RNA-Seq

Group leader: prof. Mikael Kubista, PhD

Detailed laboratory website: www.labgenexp.eu

Kubista's laboratory is Czech's leading academic laboratory specialized in high-throughput gene expression profiling and single-cell analysis using real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) and RNA-sequencing. We have several basic research projects in the field of developmental biology and stem cells, and applied projects in cancer and neurological research. We also develop methods and applications for nucleic acid analyses and we are active in the area of standardization.

Methodology and Quality Controls:

  •        Single-cell expression profiling in research and diagnostics
  •        Quality control tools
  •        Method development and standardization

Developmental biology:

  •        Role of nitric oxide signaling during early development, regeneration and wound healing
  •        Comparison of gene expression and signaling pathways during regeneration and wound healing
  •        Localization of maternal RNAs in oocytes and their distribution among blastomeres during early development

Neurobiology:

  •        Characterization of glial cell following CNS injuries
  •        Glial cells - the key players in the progression of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  •        Single-cell transcriptomic analysis of Alexander disease
  •        Role and therapeutic applications of microRNAs in CNS injuries
